My wife, Marissa, will never accuse me of being a romantic. She’s usually the one to remind me that flower vases are containers that should contain flowers or that flip flops and low hanging shorts made of sweatpants material is not appropriate attire for date night. But in Bali, which was the last two weeks of our ten-week honeymoon, I tried thinking like a different Noah. Any fans of The Notebook? The Best of Angkor Wat: Ta Prohm

The temples and ruins of Angkor, near Siem Reap, Cambodia, are hundreds–some thousands–of years old. It is the largest preindustrial city in the world, covering nearly 400 square miles of land. Even if you purchase a three day ticket–which is the pass I would recommend–it’s still difficult to visit all of the sites. Since you’ll be pressed for time–unless you race from temple to temple each day beginning at sun up and ending when the park closes–it’s best to approach the UNESCO World Heritage complex with a flexible plan. The L Hotel in Bali

The L Hotel, in the Seminyak area of Bali, just celebrated its grand opening at the beginning of September. The hotel offers comforts similar to many of the best resorts in Bali, but introduces a modern style that is a bit avant garde for an island where lauded accommodations tend to feature thatched roof villas situated in the tranquility of nature. Though the hotel lacks grass roofs, and is not directly on the beach nor cut into the jungle, there are still plenty of reasons to visit L Hotel Seminyak.
